Bus Back Better: National Bus Strategy for England
The National Bus Strategy for England was launched by the Government in mid-March 2021 and sets out ambitious targets for planning and delivering bus services over the coming years.
About the Bus Better Strategy
A package worth £220 million has been put forward to launch a revolution in bus services and deliver a better deal for bus users through the commitment to a long-term bus strategy.
Every Local Transport Authority in England is charged with producing a Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) by the end of October 2021.
These will be high-level aspirational documents that act as bidding mechanisms for the next financial year and beyond. Each one must demonstrate ambition and innovation to attract future funding in their particular area.
The ultimate aim is to either forman Enhanced Partnership or go down the franchising model route. Either way, these mechanisms must be in place by the end of March 2022.
